Sunday started very early
with the Champion Show Hunter Over 15hh. Taking out the class was
Charlotte Thomson's Gryffindor who raced successfully as Well Shod.
In second place was Lucy Forrest's Entice with defending champion of
2005 Colleen Smith's Dancer's Plea in third place. Dancer's Plea
won 10 races from 42 starts and was placed a further 10 times in
Adelaide, SA and Victoria. The Sportsmanship Award went to Bettina
Alcock. |

The Champion Show Hunter
14-15hh was awarded to Shannon Graham's Glowing Report with Tessa Hughes
and Mirinda Kingsway, the defending champion from 2005 in second and I
Barker's Braefoot Park Show Hunter 14-15hh third. |

For the second year in
succession Brooke Graham & Cheraton Serendipity took out the Champion
Show Hunter ne12hh. In second place was J Kranz's Kerulen Talfryn
with Jess Gibson's Moorabindi Masterpiece third. The Sportsmanship
Award went to Lucie Hill. |

12.2hh - 14hh was awarded to Kelli Probert & Mirinda Regatta for the
third year in succession with Amanda Dunn riding Cheraton Cabaret in
second and J O'Leary's Smithfields Limerick third. J O'Leary also
won the Sportsmanship Award. |

As the three interstate
judges retired to lunch the Leading Rein class was held. A huge
field lined up for the class with riders aged from 3 to 7 years and
horses aged from 3 to 11 years. August Scott and Rivington
Victoria won from the 3yo Riding Pony Springvale Denim & Lace ridden by
Jessica Dunn. This filly is the first foal from the well known &
successful mare Lesfield Blue Denim. In third place was Sarah
Bradshaw riding Dayna Walker-Matthews Langtree Lilly Pilly. |

The SA Pony of the Year
ne12.2hh saw Ashlee Anderson win her third class this time with Holly's
Spring Show owned by Lyndale Stables & A Penalurick. Second place
went to Tessa Hughes & Regal Intricacy with Brook Egel-Eaton's Kencot
Gimme Gold third. Tessa Hughes also took out the Sportsmanship
Award. |

The SA Pony of the Year
12.2hh - 14hh presented a challenge to judges as a huge field entered
the marshalling area but soon the 10 finalists emerged. After the
workouts were complete the title was awarded to Gayle Manning's Chynna
Grove Deja Vu ridden by Leanne Donoghue. Second place was Margot
Haynes riding Sue Bulling's Sanlirra Just Gossip with Dani Jolly-Blacket's
Sanlirra Stageshow third. The Sportmanship Award was presented to
Kirra Shea Burgess. |

The Galloway of the Year saw
victory go to Kelly White and Janevelyn Jazzman for the second year in
succession with Kolbeach Magic ridden by Chris Lawrie in second place
and KB Marine ridden by Margot Haynes third. |

Another huge group lined up
for the SA Show Horse of the Year and judges made good time in selecting
the final 10 for the individual workouts. The final workout of the
day was by Flawless ridden by Leanne Donoghue and owned by Charlotte
Mitton and this thoroughbred took out the award. Raced as Tannice
he won 3 races in New South Wales before being sent to Victoria where he
was tried as a hurdler finishing third at Sandown before being retired
in 2001. Lyndale Stables DP Idol, the defending champion, was
second with Margot Haynes & Grazier in third place. Grazier raced
as Super Sunrise and won 6 races and was placed 15 times from 39 starts
in Victoria and South Australia. Fourth place went to G Crocker's
Akhtar with Jill Best's Twain, winner of the Galloway of the Year in
2004, in fifth place.
This year may have been
the last HOTY show held at John Vaughan Equestrian Park as the area will
be handed back to the Adelaide City Council at the end of the current
financial year.
