Race 5 - Aurion Energy Trophy 1400m

Nassi Doll (left) settled midfield wide on the track. Race 6 - Great Eastern Steeplechase 4950m

Miracle's Star, Hibernian Prince and Fair Brother (left) shared the early lead with the latter pair keeping the front over the first two jumps from St Steven and Maybe Rough followed by Mr Vagabond. As they jumped the log on the first of three laps St Steven have moved to the lead from Fair Brother with Hibernian Prince next the Maybe Rough. Turning for home on the first lap St Steven kicked away with a huge lead over Fair Brother then Maybe Rough and Hibernian Prince followed by Fiddler's Green. Little changed until they went to the fallen log for the second time where St Steven held his huge lead over Fair Brother and Maybe Rough as Fiddler's Green moved forward from Hibernian Prince and Mr Vagabond. Coming down the hill St Steven skipped even further in front from Fair Brother and Fiddler's Green then Maybe Rough. Entering the final lap St Steven was given a breather and dropped back within touch as Hibernian Prince ran to second from Fair Brother then Fiddler's Green and Maybe Rough. Past the fallen log and down the hill in the final run for home St Steven raced well clear again from Hibernian Prince and Fair Brother with Maybe Rough starting to make ground near the rails and Brush With Fame out wide. At the second last St Steven was still well in front though starting to tire over the fences as Maybe Rough moved up to second from Hibernian Prince then Fair Brother. Over the last St Steven led with Maybe Rough in pursuit from Hibernian Prince and Fair Brother then Shamrock Dancer. Passing the 200m the field was spread across the track with St Steven  (below) holding grimly to the lead as first Maybe Rough then Hibernian Prince charged at him down the outside with Fair Brother against the rails. Despite drifting towards the outside rail in the final stages St Steven had enough in hand to hang on to win by a long neck from Hibernian Prince (left) with Maybe Rough 3/4 length in third in one of the closest finishes in years. Miracle's Star (left)  was pulled up shortly after the start of the third lap after dropping out during the run and Fiddler's Green fell at the last but was remounted to complete the course with both horses returning to the mounting yard without apparent injury.
