Race 7 - Christmas Hcp Royal Ida wrote himself into history becoming the first horse ever to win the Christmas Hcp three times. He had earlier won the race in 2005 (where he took fright during the presentation and hurdled the outside running rail before galloping up to the home turn) and 2006. Royal Ida missed the race last year but after an impressive third last start he lined up with topweight to defeat Danedina narrowly with Satara and Keltah dead heating for third. The closest any horse had gone to winning three editions in the past was Lipman who won in 1976 and 1978 running second in 1977.
