Adelaide International Horse Trials  2006

Cross Country Day

4th November 2006

The CCI ** was the first class to go on Saturday morning where Will Enzinger & Badger Bay kept their narrow lead with 48.00 after incurring 2.4 time penalties from Shane Rose & Cleddau Bobby Dazzler who stayed on 49.50 after going clear with Deon Stokes & Red Bull moving up to third on 50.40 after going clear while Olivia Bunn & GV Bullwinkle dropped from equal second to 28th after a refusal at jump 15 and 21.20 time penalties.

The CCI**** four star class saw 12 riders going clear on jumping with the only horse to fall being Sam Lyle & Interwin at the Sunken Road jump where they misjudged the final element.  The pair went on to complete the course.  Heath Ryan and Flame were one of three to complete a faultless round with no jump penalties.  Emily Anker and Balmoral Cavalier moved up from 8th to second with 60.40 after recording only 4.8 time penalties with with Christopher Burton & Balmoral KS Roscoe third with 61.20 after receiving 8.8 time penalties.  Sharmayne Spencer & Mega Star jumped clear but recorded 19.6 time penalties dropping to 72.60 and 9th place.

The CIC** followed where every rider in both divisions recorded time faults.  In Division 1 Kerrie Bowman & Fourwinds 4Tune went clear jumping to finish in first on 68.50 moving up from 8th with Sally Rostron & Jasper's Quest second on 72.20 with Joanne Kinross & Judah third with 72.40.  Dressage leader Megan Jones & Kirby Park Joy had a spectacular refusal at fence 11 (horse and rider landed sideways on the small house but bounced back remaining on their feet clearing the obstacle and their second attempt) while Cassia Montgomery & Arkie were withdrawn overnight.  In Division 2 Wendy Schaeffer & Koyuna Sun Shine took a narrow lead on 56.20 after completing the cross country with only 4 time penalties from Megan Jones & Kirby Park Allofasudden on 56.70 (10.8 time penalties) with Dominic Ingvall & Kitara William the Conqueror moving up one spot to 3rd with 58.80.  Overnight second place holder Lauren Balcomb & Kootamootoo dropped to 5th after recording 11.6 time penalties.
