RAS Showgrounds.
Story & Pictures - Page 11 from Day 6

The makeover of the main arena seems to have worked wonders.  With nearly constant rain from Monday night to early Wednesday the grassed oval is showing very little wear and tear compared to previous years.  The test continues as the rain is due to return reportedly on Friday afternoon as another weather front hits South Australia.

Showjumping

A big field of over 20 riders took part in the World Cup Qualifying Round with over a quarter of the field going clear in the first round much to the delight of fans.  Although timed to occur at lunch the large amount of riders resulted in the event entertaining the crowd for around two hours with the public given the chance to walk the jumping course before competition began.

Rider classes
The Lady Rider 21 years and over was taken out by Margot Haynes riding the chestnut thoroughbred Grazier with Caroline Wagner placed second and Rebecca Farran third.

Hack Classes
Action started early with the Gentleman's Hack over 15hh taken out by Christine Frost's Dashing from Rachel Lawrie's Millionaire with B Thompson's SI Fantastik third.  The Lady's Hack over 15hh followed with victory going to B Richard's Rio from a huge field of 31 while P Verco's Inferno was second and P Greenhill's Boy London third.  The Show Hunter over 16hh went to S Penny's SP Havana from C Anderson's Osterley Magical with S Lee's Manderville third.  Hack 16-16.2hh was won by C Mitton's lovely black Trent Nathan from another eyecatching horse in C Wagner's WS Black Label with M Haynes young chestnut Grazier in third place.  S Watkin's WL Envy was awarded first place in the Hack over 16.2hh with R & S Pearce's Bright Forrest in second and G McCann's Madison Avenue in third place.  Lyndale Stables & J Jacobson & T Van Heythuysen's Crown won the Hack over 15hh while L Doyle's Janlyn Three Wishes was named Champion Show Hunter Galloway.
