Adelaide Royal Day 6

6mitaviteimperial.jpg (29985 bytes)The main focus of Day 6 of the Adelaide Royal was the World Cup showjumping held just after midday. Earlier in the first jumping event a One Round Contest Anthony Thomas riding Tanami was successful from Vicki Roycroft riding Shoeshoes while Anthony Thomas also took third aboard Emmaville Intrigue. In the World Cup Qualifying Round itself the course proved quite testing in the rain affected ground with no rider able to complete a double clear round. Overall Vicki Roycroft took out the class winning from New Zealand's Sally Anderson riding Well Wisher as fellow New Zealander Sam Beatson riding Primo Ventura was third while a third member of the New Zealand team Ann Wilson on Mitavite Imperial was fourth. The fourth member of the New Zealand team was very close to completing a faultless round until he lined up for the treble and a siren went off somewhere outside the arena. This appeared to upset the pair's rhythm as they knocked a jump lost striding and refused before reattempting the treble clearing the fences without trouble.

The Champion Gentleman Rider began proceedings in the rider classes where Dale Plumb was awarded the prize from Greg Crocker with SJ Gibbons placed third. The Champion Equestrienne is for lady riders 18 years and over. The Champion went to Penny Verco riding Inferno while Reserve Champion was Rachel Lawrie and Behind The Scenes. At the other end of the arena from the World Cup jumping the Lady Rider 21 years and over was decided with RA Lawrie taking first place, AJ Brown second and M Haynes in third place. The Boy Rider 16 to 18 years only attracted a small but quality field with Tim Eurell taking the prize from Greg Mickan with Ben Antenucci third.

6mrterminator.jpg (25066 bytes)The Hack classes began in the late morning with the Hack novice over 15.2 to 16hh where G Crocker & Akhtar took first place from D Plumb & D Lyons' Thorpe. In the afternoon the Hack 15 to 15.2hh went to J Foster's Cards from C Mitton's Neon with A Hofmann's Freeling Heights Province third. Lyndale Stables & T Van Heythuysen's Kings was awarded Hack 15.2hh to 16hh from G Crocker's Aktar and Penny Verco's Inferno.

The Pair of Heavy Harness Horses over 15hh went to the Coopers Brewery Team of Isaac and Jacob while the Tradesman's Turnout went to Price's Bakery Sally. The Viceroy Turnout, non hackney went to the Avery Family's black gelding Acheron Midnight while P & P Mann's Adelphi Jubilee took out the Harness Pony 12.2hh to 14hh hackney or part hackney. The Period Turnout for ponies was awarded to BC Cook & J & M Drury's Drumeden Madison. The final class of the day was the Obstacle Driving Competition where A Beattie was successful from LE Maynard and Janelle Marshall.
